No user account pictures

Having upgraded from 98SE to XP Professional, my Norton Anti-virus wouldn't
install. Their website instructed a tweak of the registry. However, there are
now no user account pictures on the welcome screen or when going in through
Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts.
I can't change a user account picture as there are none to see unless I
browse to C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\User
Account Pictures,

Can anyone advise as to how I can edit the registry setting to restore things?

TIA

Scott,

Try copying those picture files to this location:

%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\User Account Pictures

Hi Scott,

Send me the registry edit via private e-mail. In the meantime:

Boot into Safe Mode to the Admin account and log in. From there, perform a
System Restore.

Note: If you have disabled Picture and Fax Viewer by using
regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll, you will not be able to change the picture.
To restore, go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

Added info, if needed:

How to Add a Specific Picture

Find a picture you are interested in using and use Save As to download
and/or move the picture in question to your My Pictures Folder. Then go to
User Account/Change my picture/Browse for more pictures/My Pictures
Folder/Choose the picture you want to use, then click Open.

Summary of an image is 48x48/71 dpi, depth 24.
