No Text Appearing

When installing anything from CD I am not getting any text appearing on
the installation screen just boxes with coloured shapes in. so don't
know where to go and can't install, I think my daughter may have
deleted a program from windows? Can anyone help?
 
To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type (or paste in): SFC /SCANNOW
