no terminal service in group policy editor xp

I don't have a terminal service entry in my local machine group policy
editor.
I navigated to Local Computer Policy | Computer Configuration |
Administrative Templates | Windows Components and all I have is windows
media player and windows update. I want to force "no desktop wallpaper"

I am logged in as administrator and RDP is enabled.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

Is your PC a member of a domain? If so its possible the network
administrators have disabled that particular group policy for their users...

Open gpedit.msc again and look at the "View" menu at the top. See if your
filtering the view. See this for how mine is setup, ie. the "Only show
configured policy settings" checkbox is UNCHECKED.

Is that in windows xp pro?
I do not have that option under view...just DC Options and customize.
Neither of which have filtering.
I am stumped.

I should have said to click and highlight "Administrative Templates" then go
to the View menu and check the filtering. Sorry...

Mine looks just like yours. Is there a registry setting that enables or
disables this, that you are aware of?

Right click on Administrative Templates.
On the menu that pops out, click on Add/Remove Templates.
You should see at least 5 entries in the "Current Policy Templates" box;
conf, inetres, system, wmplayer and wuau.
If any are missing, click on the Add button.
You should be able to add the missing templates.
Once you've done this, see if you can view all the Windows Components.

Good luck

Good point... Interestingly, at least to me, I have never had to do that on
any of the XP Pro boxes I have installed. Hmmm...

You and me both. The only reason I passed that suggestion along
was because I ran across a similar question in one of the other
newsgroups months ago. The only way I could duplicate the
behavior was to remove some of the templates. Sure enough, that
was the problem. I never asked why. I had the feeling that it
was something the OP had done and forgotten about.

Excellent...

Thanks for the feedback...
