I have installed MCE and all the updates on a new HDD but even though
the sounds are selected and play ok in audio properties they do not
when I shut down ot startup up the pc. Any ideas ? I found a registery
tweak but this did not make any difference

Did you select the 'sound scheme' you wished in control panel | sounds? Is
your sound card using the correct driver for WinXP? If not, download it from
the manufacturer's web site and install it in device manager. Not sure what
registry tweak you refer to, but be careful in the registry if you aren't
100% sure of what you're doing.

NB - you should post MCE questions in microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter.

No no if you read what I said you will realize that the audio driver
(soundMax) is installed correctly, if it was'nt I would'nt be getting
any sounds at all. The reg file was a click and add type file

Yeah, just thought it was worth mentioning.

That doesn't tell us anything, tho - the issue is, what was *in* the .reg
file, where did you get it from, and so forth.
