no sounds

A minor problem but annoying.
I have two accounts, mine and daughter both admin.
Recently( not sure how long asgo) system sounds IE. start .log on/off exit
etc don't play on my account but do on my daughters. They play OK when
tested on audio centre
Any ideas

This exact problem has happened on my computer as well. It happened right
after I updated to Win Xp SP2. Also, not sure if related or not but the 'play
all' option in music folders has not worked since. Both happened at the same
time. Have you figured it out yet?
