Hi! after my computer comes out of sleep, i lose the sounds. I have to
restart again the computer to get some sounds. btw I'm using Vista Home
Premium. can somebody help me on this? thanks

Hi Ronnie, thank you for your immediate reply. I already requested for the
hotfix and I'm now waiting for it in my email. it may take 8days before i
receive it. I'll let you know the result. thank you again.

Hi Ronnie, The hotfix was emailed to me today and I tried to download the
hot fix kb942364 bec it describes exactly my problem. all files were unzipped
ok and i even restarted my computer but the problem is still there.

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium; 32-bit Operating System. Could this be
the reason? If so, is there other solution? thank you.

Hi Ronnie, the prob is still the same after downloading the hotfix but there
was an improvement. i've discovered that after sleep mode I can get back the
sounds by going to the control panel, then under the hardware and sound, I go
to manage audio devices, and once I clicked on the Recording tab, I regained
the sounds in my computer. I tried it several times and it worked. but is
there other ways of doing it? an additional download perhaps? thank you again
:-)

I have the same problem, my sound won't come on after waking up from sleep.
What's worse is none of my sounds work (not only my sounds for windows
media). And those links from Ronnie don't help me much.

After you hit the Recording Tab highlight your mic and hit Set As Default.
Then do Configure. Check the sound.

Set as Default is crucial.

Ronnie, I am wondering if you could find a hotfix for a person whose
keyboard does not wake up after sleep.

OK, there is another update that fixes similar problems, but is focused on
the sound device instead of just the speakers. Take a look at the following
article to see if this describes your sound device.

A high definition audio device may no longer work after you resume Windows
Vista from hibernation or from sleep:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937077/

This article has a downloadable fix.

There are so many problems with the hibernate/sleep components that we are
seeing and these have been made a high priority in Service Pack 1. The final
version of SP1 should be released soon.

USB keyboard? If so, it could be related to the same problem that Mallows
was experiencing.

There is yet another hotfix available that addresses other USB devices that
quit working after resuming from hibernation or sleep. Get the hotfix from
the following article. A hotfix is always free and you receive it within
about 8 hours.

A USB device may no longer work correctly after Windows Vista resumes from
sleep or from hibernation:

Try this other fix for problems associated with the sound device and
hibernation/sleep.

A high definition audio device may no longer work after you resume Windows
Vista from hibernation or from sleep:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937077

Like I told mallows, these problems are becominf too common and SP1 should
address them.
