no sound

i am getting error message cdooiiba with no sound at all i am using media player 9

I have the same error code as byte..my system tells me i have no media audio driver
but in other applications it tells me that another program has priorty.which prog?and how do i find out?also i swear i saw what i think was the driver on a off the wall path and no idea how to get back to it.
