no sound

windows xp service pack 1 2002 version. system info
displays;system summary,sound device---blank screen.
storage problem devices; multimedia audio controller not
installed. pnp device id as
follows;pci\ven_8086&dev_24c5&subsy_3189109f&rev_01
\3&61aaa01&0&fd. have tried to find download to restore
sound to no avail. had home edition with sound, change to
xp and problem surfaced. can't find any info, can you
help. thanks don.

Go to to the manufacturer's (of the sound board) website and download the
latest XP driver. Follow instructions to install it. If you don't know
what sound card you have, try to find the manual for it or open the box and
take a peek.
