No sound with Beep command

I am trying to give an audible warning if a particular field is not empty
when an existing record is entered. I've tried to use the BEEP command but
nothing happens. The Critical Stop sound is working in Control Panel/Sounds
which I understand is the default sound for this command. Any suggestions or
alternatives would be very much appreciated.
 
The "Default Beep" sound is the one that the Beep command will use.
 
Wayne .. Thank you. I've resolved the problem now - I hadn't put the
conditional 'beep' macro in the right place (Properties Form, Event Tab, On
Enter)
It was such a simple thing, yet I've spent ages trying to work it out. Sorry.
