No sound through Logitech USB Headphones

My Compaq TC1000 tablet only seems to play sound out
through its speaker. It does not pick up the USB
headphones when they are plugged in. I have tried telling
the machine to use "Stereo Headphones" in the "advanced
speaker settings" of "Sounds and Audio Devices" but this
is ignored. :(
Any help / advice out there?
Thanks

Stereo Headphone settings in Sound/Audio only uses standard audio jacks
(form the sound card). You would need to make sure that the USB drivers are
correctly set up.

Did you install the drivers for the headphones?

Plus.. Are you sure that these are Logitech headphones? I can't find
any reference to any USB headphones on the Logitech site

Yes they are Logitech I bought them from the logitech
site and they have logitech written on them so I guess
that makes them logitech! :) No CD / driver software came
with them and I can't find any dowloads for drivers
anywhere (believe me I have looked!)
(By the way the headset is: Logitech Stereo USB Headset
20, part number 980 125-0914)

Any other ideas? Thanks. R.

Thanks Y.
Unfortunately the headset didn't come with any drivers
nor do logitech provide any driver downloads. In fact
even though the product is listed on their site (where I
bought it from) there is no product support available for
it at all!
The odd thing is that they have worked in the past, I
just cant get them to now. Most frustrating!
Thanks anyway

I recently bought these headphones. They were an absolute breeze to
set up.

First and foremost, you don't need to install drivers (at least not on
XP and this IS an XP forum). They will be installed automatically.
Strangely though you receive no notification that this is happening. I
think this may be what has confused you.

Second, to allow Windows to use your device, open up the "Sounds and
Audio Devices" control panel. Now select the "Audio" tab and set the
default devices for Sound playback and Sound recording to "USB
headset" (can't remember the exact wording, I'm on another machine at
the moment).

This should get everything working!

Thanks. Sadly I tried all this - it was the fact that
they did not work that got me looking for drivers. The
odd thing is that they used to work - I suspect it may be
the fact that my tablet PC is now in a docking station
with several other USB devices hanging off it (just a
wild guess as I have run out of sensible avenues of
approach!)
Thanks for the suggestions though.
