no sound from speakers!

Ok I went through my entire "Help" walkthrough on my
computer and I can't figure out why I don't hear any
System sounds, music, etc from my speakers. When I turn
the speakers on, I can hear a buzz/fuzz (the sound that
speakers make when they're on but they're not playing
anything), but when I try to play music or even open up
anything there is no sound. I've made sure everything is
connected and plugged in, and everything is compatible
with the XP and installed. Help me! What else could it
possible be?

A couple more things you can do. Make sure the speakers

are plugged in to the Sound card and not the modem card.
Some modem cards have sound ports where the plug will fit.
Next, rightclick the sound icon, bottom righthand corner
of your screen, click "Open Volume Control" and check if
none of the "Mute" blocks are checked. Then, same icon,
check "Adjust Audio Properties". Check each tab, volume
set at medium. Check "Speaker Settings" > Advanced >
Volume. If all else fails, go to below website, click "S"
and scroll down to: "Sound Troubleshooters"
