no sound from speakers after xp installation

hi all... i recently installed windows xp upgrade to my
computer and since then my speakers have not worked. is
there something that i forgot to do? is it that they
arent compatible? i tried a new set of speakers and
those didnt work either. somethng to do with a driver or
sound card?? help! i'm dying without my music.

You need to make sure your sound card drivers are XP specific (visit the
manufacturer's website and download them).

Right click on the loudspeaker icone in the Systray then make sure the play
options are not muted and that the sliders are up to the max. That should
make you hear music.
