No sound from internal speaker

Intel P4 PC running XP - There's no sound from internal PC
speaker. Any ideas?

Under what circumstances are you expecting sound from the
internal speaker? Windows doesn't use the internal speaker.

As I said, Windows doesn't use the internal speaker. Sounds it
produces come through the sound card and speakers, if you have
them installed.

The only sounds I've ever heard from my internal speaker (on my old
computer) was the modem when I was on (ugh) dial-up. What sort of sound are
you expecting from the internal speaker? Are you certain your computer has
an internal speaker?
