no sound after standby

for some reason I lose my sound after I resume from standby.
I am running XP pro . I recently did a clean install of ths OS.... I didn't
find any drivers on Win update and the speakers work fine
until the computer has been on standby.
any ideas?

The key to your Post is that you just recently did a clean reinstall.
Hence, you are missing a audio driver of
some kind. Rt click on MyComputer>Select Prop>Hardware>Device
Manager>Sound, Video and Game
Controllers. Expand and see if there are any yellow marks next to any of
the entries. If yes they lack drivers.
