No sound after installing Upgrade Vista disk

My sound was working perfectly and then I inserted the Upgrade Your Windows
Vista Experience disk. A red X appeared next to the speaker icon on my thing
tray. When I click on it it says "no audio output device is installed". Did
the disk wipe out my "audio output device"? Any way of getting it back?
Downloading? Getting Microsoft to fix?

thanks for the quick response...I did go to the Device Mgr. and then asked it
took look and see if there is a problem with the driver. It said the driver
was fine. I guess I could remove the driver and then re-install. Can you
give me directions on how to do? Thanks much.

Hey - did you resolve this - I've had the same problem. Upgraded to
Ultimate, audio device disappeared despite the device manager saying
everything is ok

You should be able to just remove, uninstall, or whatever the Vista
terminology is and reboot. Vista should load the correct drivers.

I've tried that, but still doesn't seem to work. I might try throwing it out
the window. ANy other thoughts would be great.
