No Shortcuts to Drives

After installing SP1 I lost my ability to use shortcuts
to my floppy, CD/DVD, and DVDRW. Found info via
www.ask.com that stated the problem was with Hotfix
KB821557 and to uninstall it. Add/Remove does not have an
option for uninstall. Is there another way to get
shortcut functionality back?

What do you mean by shortcuts? Do you mean like shortcuts on your desktop or you cannot access these drives at all? I have those updates and have no problem with my drives. I access them through "My Computer" which I have set up on my Start panel as a link.

From Control Panel right click on a drive and create a shortcut. It will send it to the desktop, supposedly giving you access to open your CD from there. I have no problem with the drive functioning, only that the "link" or "shortcut" does not work.

Get the hotfix from Microsoft Support.

Desktop Shortcut to the 3 1/2 Inch Disk Drive or to the CD-ROM Drive Does Not Work

I tried that, but I have used up my FREE support. It would cost me $35. It's a shame that you have to pay for a MS fix. If I have not done something correctly, please let me know. According to the site information there is no online fix - only paid support after using up the free support. I have had XP on for over 2 years and can't recall more that 2-3 email support questions.
