No Safe Mode and No Restore

Hi All

I am running WinXP Media edition Sp2. I have only just noticed that I am
unable to boot into Safe Mode with the Blue Screen of Death appearing with
the following condensed message " A problem has been detected etc etc

Technical Info: Stop 0x0000007B (0xF7C2A528,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I have also noticed that I am unable to set a restore point or return to any
restore points. Apart from that the computer seems to be running OK.

Any help much appreciated.
