From where to where? Hard drive, CD, floppy or? How large are the files
being copied? Does it occur with small as well as large files?

See if this applies.

Problem caused by adding Copy To and Move To as context menu entries
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/movetocontext.htm

What goes wrong when you add "Copy To" to the context menu

If not...

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

Right-click is extremely slow only when Network is enabled

Thanks for Your advice , Wes .
I indeed have had the slowrightclick problem which I solved with the
help
of the link You mentioned.
The copy to / move to entries can´t be the cause since I have made this
alteration just recently experiencing the drag and drop problem for a
much longer time .
Maybe You got some more advice .
Other forums told me to check for bugs ,troyans etc. but left me alone
with the how to do a thorough scan .
Can You help ?
