no reboot after updates applied

Hi! I am trying to install vista on my PC. I am installing on an 80Gb blank
disk after burning my own DVD from the iso file off the m/soft website.

Here's my problem:

The operating system installs OK up until just after updates have been
applied it then comes up with an error message which reads along the lines of:

"Error: setup failed to reboot your computer into the next step".

The setup program then undoes everything it has done (rolls back the
changes) and that's it.

Any suggestions?? I have not tried to install without applying the updates,
but this seemed fairly important that it had to be done.

Any help greatfully received,

Steve.

Have you tryed doing it again? (inc. formatting the HDD in the process?)

Also, you could try installing without updates, and then update afterwards.
