No ping and ipconfig

Clevo

Hello,

I just reinstall my notebook (Win Xp Prof SP2) and I can't use ping and
ipconfig anymore. I get an error that the system can't interpret the name
ping or ipconfig.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Greetings Clevo,

Please reply with a little more detail and what happens. To clearify what
are the ping results? Make sure you are running ipconfig from the command
prompt. Unable to ping by computer name usually indicates a NetBIOS name
failure. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on on all computers. Details here.

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and click Command
Prompt. At the command prompt, type without quotes "ipconfig" and then press
ENTER.

Try running those commands this way:

C:\Windows\System32\ping
C:\Windows\System32\ipconfig

If those commands work, the problem with the short form of the
commands that you used is probably that the PATH environment variable
has the wrong value. To fix it, run this command:

set PATH=C:\Windows\System:%PATH%

If you've installed Win XP in a different folder than C:\Windows,
substitute the actual folder name in the command lines above.
