No permission to access resource

I have a small network with 3 PC's. On is running XP home
edition. The other 2 win 98. I can access all files from
the XP computer on the 2 98 computers. However, I can not
access the XP computer from any of the 98 PC's. I get the
message "\\Compaq is not accessible. No permission to
access resource". All PC's use the same workgroup. I can
ping the XP in both directions. I only use TCP/IP
protocol with manually set IP address on the XP box and
automatic IP adressing on the 98 PC's. The XP has McAfee
firewall installed which I disabled, but no success. I
also disable the XP's own firewall. ICS works. When I run
ipconfig, the node type says "unknown". I read somewhere
that it node type should be set to "point-to-point". I
don't know how to change it, if this is actually the
problem.

Use static (manual) IP addressing for XPserver and 98clients. When you log
on a 98client you must have an account with the same username and password
on the XPserver.

Tried it all. I use the same name and password in both machines. XP system uses static IP addressing.
I am thinking that the problem has to do with the fact that I do not have the option "sharing and security" listed on my XP machine when I right-click the C drive. I don't know why or how I can turn this feature on.
