Hi,

Whenever I start my Dell Dimension computer I get an error to the effect
that I don't have a pagefile (or its set to low) and that I should change
the settings. I've changed the system settings to both custom values and
system managed - but my pagefile is never created.

Does anyone have ideas how to solve this?

How many hard drives?

What model -Dell Dimension? What motherboard manufacturer and reference
number?

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have a Dimension 4600; 3Ghz P4; 120GB harddrive (only 1 partition); 48GB
free; System chip set: Intel 865G; 1GB ram;

This error started about a 1 week ago. But no idea why.

checked under c:\ no pagefile.sys, and my files aren't hidden.

Do you have any ideas?

Start here:
Error Message: Your System Has No Paging File, or the Paging File Is Too
Small
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315270

If this doesn't help please look in Event Viewer (system tab) for Error
Reports and copy here:

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer.
When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the
error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two
pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your
message
(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the
Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make
sure this is
the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

In Event Viewer there is no facility to print Error Reports. A
workaround is copy and
paste the Error Report into an email, send it to yourself and print off
the copy in your
Inbox or your Sent Items folder.
