I have windows Vista Premium installed and I can't find media center anywhere
do not really want to do a reinstall since I have been using It a few months
any ideas

Hello,

it's located in C:\Windows\ehome. Is there no link in the Start Menu?

Greetings,

"Windows Media Center" should be in the top list of Start Orb > All Programs.

When I run it it says "Windows cannot open this program because it has been
prevented by a software restriction policy. Contact your administrator" That
would be me!. Tried to run it as administrator same message.

Thanks

Hello,

Windows key + R -> gpedit.msc -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative
Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Media Center -> Do not allow
Windows Media Center to run -> Disabled

Greetings,

Does not appear to come with or work with Vista Premium. Hunted on some
other posts and discovered this after I could not find editor Any other
suggestions?

Found the solution go set all the program defaults back to Microsoft and
Presto its back. Don,t you just lovove VISTA

I had a similar problem with Vista home Premium and Media Center. When I
installed Vista the first time months ago, my Media Center didn't work
properly. I had no sound and the TV looked like "still life". I fought a
week to solve the problem and even asked for help here in the discussion
group but really got no help.
I waited a couple months and contacted Sony who makes my Vaio. I asked them
if they had new drivers for my particular model of PC and they promptly
emailed me back with a link to the drivers.
I downloaded over 200 meg of drivers to mak Vista work on my 1 1/2 yr old
Sony. 250 Gig HD, 1 Gig Ram, Dual Core Intel Processor, etc.
Well, low and behold after I installed Vista and installed the updated
drivers, everything worked like it used to in XP.
You might consider contacting the maker of your unit and seeing if there are
update drivers for media center.
Hope this helps.
