no internet connection, but have intranet connection

Hi!
I have two macines in my home office. Both were connected to the internet but
today one machine is not able to access the internet. No Ping from command
prompt.

1. I am able to see the shared drive from my 2nd computer.
2. ipconfig /renew /release /all work.
3. I am unable to ping my gateway 192.168.0.1
4. I am unable to ping www.yahoo.com etc.
5. Email does not not work.

So I have intranet access but no internet. Please help!

So what changed today? Does the other have all access working?

Look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, and diagnose
the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!):

I am looking at the links now. I moved offices so am not connected to my
linksys router anymore. Quick question. What does it mean when I can
see other computers in my network but have no internet access?

If you have 2 computers, and neither has Internet access, it's probably the
connection between the two computers and the Internet. If one computer has
access and the other doesn't, then it's probably a problem on the one that
doesn't have access.

If you can see the other computers, can you access them also? The seeing of
them might be cached on the computer. Or it could be a case of you getting
local broadcasts, which lets you see the other computers.

There are a lot of reasons why you might not have access, and it would help a
lot if you'd diagnose the lack just a bit. Looking at the settings, and
diagnosing DNS / MTU, are two places to start.

Thanks Chuck. I have it working now. The computer that was not working for
internet access - instead of acquiring the IP address like it was, I changed
it
to use the specific IP address. Same for the DNS and now it is working. Any
ideas why ?

Without seeing any diagnostics, I could only guess. Which setting did you
change? From what to what? The more details, the better.
