I have a small wireless network (3 computers) set up, with my own
computer acting as the gateway to an ADSL connection to the internet.
The wireless network is an Intel AnyPoint Home Network (a bit old, but
it gets the job done fine)

With Windows XP SP1 installed on all the computers, everything worked
fine. I have just installed SP2 on one of the client (i.e. not the
gateway) computers, and can no longer access the internet from that
computer. Access to network printers and file sharing works fine, it's
just that it can't access the internet. All I get when trying to view a
web page is the IE "Page Not Found" message. All of the LAN network
settings are exactly as they were when the SP1 system was installed
(which worked fine). I've also tried switching off the Windows XP
firewall on the client computer, but that has no effect at all.

I realise that there may be a potential incompatibility in that the
gateway computer is still running SP1, but I'm loathe in install SP2 on
that until I can be sure that internet access form the client computers
will work over the wireless network.

Can anyone advise me on what to try next? I really would appreciate any
help anyone can give.

Very many thanks. Regards,

CRS.

You may want to start here: "How to Troubleshoot wireless network

Many thanks Thorston. I'll check that out. Rgds.

There are reports that SP2 breaks the connectivity of some LAN
connections.

You'll get an error message saying: "Limited or no connectivity".

For me, it means that the on-board LAN won't work, while a PCI LAN
card does just fine. There's a small bunch of people with the same
problem for completely different hardware.

This may nor may not be relevant to you. It depends on where the
blockage is in your system.
