No Instant messenger scanner

Had this message come up Norton Antivirus was unable to start the instant messenger scanner It will be unable to scan Instant Messenger downloads for infections

Have tried getting intouch with norton or symantec but to no avail
I have done scans have no virus scan done with nav and spyboot
When I go to open attachments in windows live messenger instead of it being scanned for virus it comes up CONTENTS IE5 could not be opened.It then goes into a folder which took me weeks to find and I just delete them.
I have Windows XP SP2 home page Windows Live Messenger
I am also having a lot of trouble connecting to ADSL it used to be atomatic now it keeps coming and going and I have to keep signing in.
Hope someone can advice me of the problem forgot to say I use IE7

Hmmm, well, most of us here would recommend uninstalling Norton ... you'll need their 'special' uninstaller to do so properly.


AimMon.exe is the configuration program for the ADSL Kit of the Spanish Internet provider Telefónica Net. You can find more information about troubles with the running of this process (in Spanish language) on the security website of the Science and Technology Office of the Spanish government: at;

Content.IE5 is a mystery to most, but is simple used to store content from websites ... you can delete it's contents by deleting "all offline" content in IE tools Internet Options Temp Internet Files.

first of all thanks for the reply I looked at that site for ADSL telephonica unfortunaly it is all in spanish.Looked at the expat discussions and there is nothing there to relate to the problem of having to connect every so many mins.It says I am signed in when I am on windows live messenger then when i go into the Ie it comes up again dial up connection click here.I used to have when I logged on to windows live messenger automatic connection.I dont know now whether the trouble is with the dial up or norton AV 2006 not scanning.I have had NAV for 3 yrs now and since nov/dec this problem suddly popped up with not scanning also this thing with IE5 Contents can not open this file or attachment which people send me through my email be it photos jokes what ever it will not open.When I got emails to open the attachment it used to get scanned first before I opened it now it doesnt it gets downloaded straight into temp folder then says it cant open it.I am worried thsat I will end up with some big nasties soon if I dont get it sorted.I am sending a HJL to see if u could spot anything please helpLogfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2
