No icons, start or taskbar just wallpaper(desktop)

I have had a problem where occasionally I have no icons, start or taskbar
appearing when I log into my profile. Only way I can get them is to switch
computer off by power button. At reboot it appears ok. Then may reoccur.
Maybe i in 5 times. Have cleared all start up items except MCFEE related.
Notice there is a box with no title but is unchecked.
Help
Thanks

When you are with no icons and taskbar,
press alt ctrl del and terminate all instances of EXPLORER.exe under the
processes tab
then from the task manager go to
FILE > New task and write explorer
and press enter

the explorer shell will start....

Now this is not the solution. Here is the solution:

Download adaware free edition and spybot
(search for those names on download.com)
install them and search for spyware and delete them

If the problem is not solved it may be an EXPLORER shell extension. You can
view these and disable them with this free tool:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
(scroll to the bottom to find the download)
scroll through the items and look for non microsoft ones,
and disable some of them that MAY be causing you problems, restart and if
its not ok disable some more non microsoft one.. this trial and error effort
will probably find the culprit...

PLEASE tell me what happened, since I need this feedback to further improve
the advice I give...

thank you

I have tried spybot as already had adaware, found some spyware and deleted.
But problem re-occured.

Now run shexview, disabled non-microsoft items. So far logged in 2-3 times
and OK. But was random, so will see how I go.

Will let you know outcome in next few days or sooner if does not fix.

Thanks for your help
