Thank you everyone for your time,

My computer wouldn't load anything after I log on. The the desktop is
empty, there's no start, no task bar or any icons. The only thing
that will work are cetain CD's and taskbar. I was told to do system
restore but can't figure out how to do that without start.

Hi David,

You can try running the computer in safe mode (restart your computer and
start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard). When you log on with your
account you will be prompted to choose between Safe mode and System Restore
(click No to select System Restore). You can also try running explorer.exe
using the Task Manager in normal startup:

1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click on Task Manager

2. On the Application tab press New task

3. In the Open box type explorer.exe and press OK

After running the explorer.exe process the start menu should appear and you
can navigate to System Restore (Start/All Programs/Accessories/System
Tools/System Restore). If System restore does not help, please post some
more information:

1. Does the Start appear in Safe mode?

2. Did you check you computer for viruses
(http://safety.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm)

3. Try running the computer using the system configuration utility
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353)
