no icons on desktop

I am having some trouble when I start my computer.
When I start it, my wallpaer loads, but none of my icons
show up on my desktop. I have to restart, often three
times, before the icons load on my desktop.
What is wrong??
Any help is appreciated.

It might be that the Show Desktop feature is turned off. Right click the desktop and point to Arrange Icons By, click Show Desktop. This could also be a virus issue. Make sure your virus protection is up to date.
