No icon in My Computer for a USB Flash Drive

My flash drive works fine in my various Windows 9X
computers, but not in my XP machine. I plug the flash
drive into the USB port, the system beeps at me and a
"safely remove hardware" icon appears, the System icon
under Control Panel shows the flash drive as present
and working fine, but I cannot use it because there is no
icon for it.

Any suggestions???

it's been months since i installed one but i believe you
need to do show properties in control panel and give the
drive a name. i use name: h_256mb
