Sometimes I need to open programs that either have no
file associations, or need to open it with an application
other than its designated file association. An example is
opening Access 2002 .ldb files with Notepad or something.
I achieve this by:
1. Right-click on the file.
2. Select 'Open With...'
3. Click 'Choose Program...'
4. A window pops up asking:
'Use the web service to find the appropriate program'
or
'Select the program from a list'
I pick 'Select the program from a list'.
5. Another window pops up with a list of programs. I pick
the appropriate program, make sure the 'Always use the
selected program to open this type of file' check box is
UNchecked, and OK.
My problem is, since I never use web services, I'd like
to eliminate step 4. It wastes my time. Is there any
property settings or registry keys that I can use to turn
off the dialog in step 4, and go straight to step 5?
Thanks!
