No highlighted the first name when openig contacts

My outlook 2002 is acting like this now. I open my contacts folder and it
does not highlight the first contact in my contact list. I used to see the
first name highlighted and browse with the first letter using my keyboard.
Now I have first to click any name to highlight it and the use the letter
keys of the keyboards to select different names.
I tried the repair session but it did not worked.
Any Ideas?
 
I just found out that activesync was causing this bad behavior. I fixed it
by stopping the process of "WCESCOM" reboot the computer and now is back to
normal.
 
Not using the "Outlook Today" interface will also fix it.
 
Guau, any reason why this bug is in outlook?
I just changed what you told me and is fixed now.

However, I still want the outlook today as default in my outloo
