Hi guys,
This is a question that has had me going for ages, and really need to get an
answer to it.. so here goes..
I have a HP laptop - which is well and good, and it has a completely retail
version of XP PRO sp2 on it as I didn't want to use HOME (OEM) which came
installed. So I happily installed XP PRO without a problem. Everything is
fine apart from one thing...
Hibernation and standby are simply not available. When I mean unavailable -
I mean in the POWER options, there is no tab for hibernation. When pressing
shift on shutdown, hibernation does not appear. Infact, standby is also
unavailable - even when holding shift or not! All the power down options I
have are log off, shut down and restart.
Also noticing that although the options in power is set to standy by over 20
mins when on battery - it doesnt. Infact it does nothing at all, doesnt even
turn the monitor off.
So it seems either do not work. Does anyone have any ideas how to firstly
get standby to work and then maybe hibernation - which is mainly what I am
after, and I used to use that all the time with my old laptop.
Hope someone can help here.
Kind regards,
Pierce Lynch
