My computer only has a SCSI hard drive which is connected
using the Promise ATA card in the IDE 1 slot. As I am
installing Windows XP the setup goes through and gets to
a point where it displays the following message "setup
did not find any hard drives installed in your computer".

For some reason it is not recognizing my hard drive. Any
thoughts ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. You must have the correct Windows XP, Promise drivers available on a
floppy disk

2. During the initial part of setup, you will see a text message along the
lines of "If you have additional drivers to install - press F5" (not sure of
the F key).

3. Insert the floppy and press "continue. The drivers will be installed.
Then you can finish the installation.

When you first start the installation, you're given the chance to hit F6
to load extra drivers - you need to do this. Also, first check on the
Promise site for updated XP drivers and have them ready on a floppy.

When you start Setup, there should be a bar at the bottom of the screen
which says 'Hit F6 to install special driers. . .' At that point you
need to provide the Promise drivers (should have come with the card on a
floppy) and hit the F6 for them to be loaded, so Setup can work with the
hardware
