I miss those rainbow colours too ;-)

I know in Vista the defrag is supposed to happen in the background
automatically, but it would be nice to be able to actually see the progress
if one initiates a manual defrag.

Agreed, or at least an approximation of percentage complete, so I know
whether it's going to take 2 minutes or two hours.

Yes I wanted to see a progress to see how long it takes and whether its
missing any parts like the XP one does.
There is something strangely relaxing about watching a moving defrag. LOL

Ah those Norton defrag patterns with moving blocks were the best!

The O&O defragger retains the block move display.

Oh is that still around?
I used that about 5-6 years ago on win98 I think :-)

I don't know where they are on the beta, but you can check the website.

Version 8 Pro, build 1398.
This older version is no longer on the O&O website, however.
8.5 does not work.

Yeah noticed this as well, too bad :(.

I guess they want to hide how bad the default defrag tool really is at
defragging ;D (O&O is waaaay better and at least supports boot defrag).

I was dissapointed also, but I found a free defrag utility called Auslogic
Disk Defrag which works fine with Vista. It's nowhere near as advanced as
programs like PerfectDisk but it's comparable to the old Windows versions.
