I have no event soounds at all. Sounds play individually
and screensaver, mail alert from SpamKiller, Weatherbug
sound events play so it's not device related. Any help
appreciated.

TIA,

EdC

have you checked "my computer / control panel / sounds
and audio devices then click the tab "sounds" there you
can create sound schemes.

TIA,

If you are comfortable with editing the registry, run regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER, if the (Default) is blank in the "Data" column, right-click
and delete the entry. XP will immediately rebuild it with the correct value
"Value not set". Also check HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21 for the same condition.

John,

I've done that, I've reinstalled all default sounds via
registry .... nothing resolves the event sound issue.

TIA for further assistance,
Ed

Using TweakUI make sure that the Beep on Errors is checked. This is what
I was told to do and it works

Hi, just to let you know that I have had this problem for
weeks with no luck on finding a fix until this post.
Many thanks. It works for me.
