No Email Notification to Client

I have noticed that my Outlook 2000 users running XP SP2 do not receive their
mail as soon as it arrives. They must click on another folder (presumably
forcing communication with the server) and all the new messages appear at
once. We are running Exchange 5.5 and I have seen that if the client does
not provoke an action the mail will arrive after five minutes or so.
