No email notification Outlook 2003

I have just done a clean install of Win XP SP2 and installed Office Pro
Enterprise 2003. Under Advanced Email Options I have all the notifications
selected, but I don't get any notifications. No sound, no cursor change, no
envelope icon, no desktop alert!! Any ideas warmly received.

What type of mail account are using?
