Have you installed any security updates or any other
software? Sounds like your vid drivers is not corrupt.
Also, the refresh rate may be too low or high for your
video chipset. If too high, you could see black. Check
your monitor (if using one) and change refresh rate from
it OSD, try auto-sync.

If this proves no help, then boot to safe mode or safe
mode + networking, and try reinstalling your vid driver or
updating it. See what MS windows update has for that
system. This may help or a newer (possibly not WHQL
tested/approved) driver may do the trick.

If nothing was installed/modified since the last time it
worked, I suspect a driver issue/settings issue.

Do not, whatever you do, use winupdate for vid.drivers, use laptop
manu.drivers only
