No display returning from stand by

I have a very recent problem where the system returns out of standby, but the
laptop display does not. I am running XP Pro SP2 on a P4. I know the system
returns because the indicator light stops blinking and I hear the typical DVD
and HD clicking and the fan kicks in. The only recovery is to hold down the
power button and re-boot at which point the display is there. Problem started
out of the blue and no applications or updates have been installed.

Are you using a Dell computer? I have same problem on my Dell laptop.
