Part of the problem with this computer is that the right hand pane of My Computer (Windows Explorer) does not display any
information, and that holds true for Control Panel, as well. The left hand pane does display drives and folders, but the contents
of those folders will not display in the right hand pane
We have also noted that some web pages do not display at all, in particular--Hotmail, Micosoft.com, and Windows Update--all
of which are Microsoft sites

Additional issues
My customer's computer is running W2000pro and has Norton System Works 2003 loaded
When I open NAV 2003, all of the components show that they are Refreshing. That status does not change over time. That also
means that I am unable to run a virus scan, of course. I found a Symantec article, "System Status screen displays "Refreshing"
after opening Norton AntiVirus 2003" and tried to follow the directions
I registered Jscript.dll successfully, but this did not fix the problem
The second step called for repairing or reinstalling Internet Explorer. However, I was unable to do this because the applets/icon
in the Control Panel do not display when I open the Control Panel
I tried installing IE6 from a CD that I have, but the installer would not run because it detected a more current version of IE6
already in place
(I have already run System File Checker, and a dozen files did need replacing, but doing so did not take care of the problem.
It certainly makes me think it might be a virus, but I am unable to scan with NAV 2003, and the computer will not let the virus
scan from Symantec's website run, either. Is it possible to run a rescue disk set from an older version of NAV that is up to date
from my Windows 98 system on this Windows 2000 system
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Try clicking the right pane then press the ctrl key while tapping the
numeric pad's + key

and/or

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;179875

hope that helps?
