Explorer right pane blanc

Snowie

I have a problem with my explorer. On the left I see the
folders but the right pane is completely blanc. And when I
open the explorer, it can be shut down and explorer.exe
uses 99% cpu.

The taskmanager is the only way to shut it down.

I've already scanned for viruses with my Norton Internet
Security 2004 and did a online scan twice with McAfee and
Trend Micro. But there are no viruses.

I've also scanned my computer for spyware twice with
spybot and adaware and everything seems to be fine.

In the "save mode" it all works fine, but in the normal
mode my right pane stays blanc.

You can see my systemspecifics on

Can somebody help me? It started suddenly yesterday....

Thanks...

I've seen something like this with minor disk anomalies, such as a large
drive used on Server 2003, then moved and imported into an underpowered 2000
Server. Does CHKDSK / CHKNTFS run cleanly?

Trying to follow your URL, I get "Cannot find server or DNS Error", so I
cannot see if you have some resource issue(s). I assume that this problem
occurs, no matter which directory you look at on any given hard drive. If
you have not tried other drives, you can of course open them in Explorer by
entering a drive and path in the Run dialog. What if you try to read other
media, such as a CD or diskette? Is it possible that NIS is taking
inordinate amounts of time and resources to scan the files?
