No desktop upon reboot

Hello,
After doing a scan and removing numerous detected
spyware, the system asks to be rebooted. Upon reboot and
login I get a blank desktop. If I right click I get
nothing. I can go into task manager but the system
functionality is limited. This is under XP SP1. Is
there a certain Spyware that causes this or should I be
looking at something else as the problem? Any help is
Appreciated. Thanks,
Matt

Have you tried to log on using Safe mode (F8 during boot up)?
If you can, then run Windows Explorer, go to your profile temporary folders
(usually C:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\temp and
c:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5) and delete all the files in those directories and
subdirectories.
Then do a full system scan with MS AntiSpyware (check the proper option
under Scan settings).
Also scan the system with all the weapons you have ;-) i.e. any other
antispyware, antitrojan and antivirus software (hope you have all of them
and up to date?).
