Believe me I know how to find it,defrag that is!!!
It is listed in the acces.. but not enabled.
I get a no snapin error.
I tried a few suggestions from this site to fix ,no help.
Now I guess maybe its not installed in my system.
Where on the XP CD is it located.
Microsoft has made something as simple as installing
critical component hard to do.
I have tried to go to the cd and install but its not in
the windows acces.. part or at least I cant find it.
Is it a 3rd party software and on the XP CD but I am just
not looking in the right part.

In Windows XP to Defrag a drive, goto:
Control panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management,
once that has loaded on the left hand side there is a list, click Storage,
then Disk Defragmenter is there :)

Try C:\windows\system32\dfrg.msc
Does that run?

"Microsoft has made something as simple as installing

My system auto downloads the updates and tells me when they are ready to
install. How much simpler can it get?

you can open my computer, then right click on the drive
you want to defrag go to properties, select the tooks menu
and there you go

Or you can right click on My Computer, choose manage and defrag is in there
as well.

I know how to look for and where to go on my hard drive
for defrag!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is not enabled or not installed!!
It is not in the Administative Services area either.
So where on the XP cd is it located so that I may install
it.
That is what I am talking about when I say Microsoft make
some think a little hard to find like a critical
component like defrag.

Chill, Brad.

Go to Start/Run and type in: mmc /a. Go to File and choose Add/Remove
Snap-in. Click Add then scroll down to Disk Defragmenter, Add. Save in
%windir%\system32.

Other than that go to the Desktop: Right click/New/Shortcut and type in:
defrag.exe

If still no go, check to see if it is listed here:
%windir%\System32\defrag.exe

If not, go to Start/Run/msconfig/Expand File

We can always expect to get a civil, straight-to-the-point answer from you.
Don't you wish everybody was as nice?

Wasn't my question but thanks for being so helpful.
