no color settings for nVidia control panel

When I bring up the nVidia control panel, it doesn't have any of the
color controls like brightness and contrast. The help file says I
should select "Display" from the initial "Select a Category" page, but
the only thing I get for "Display" is "Multiple Displays". Except for
that, it's an empty page. And I only have one display, so that
doesn't do anything either.

This is a Presario SR2002X, originally with XP. The Vista upgrade DVD
had an option to either upgrade XP or install Vista clean. I did a
clean install. I also went to hp.com and downloaded the latest nVidia
GeForce driver, version 7.15.10.9734, and installed it.

So, what's happened to the color controls? Is there some way to get
them working?

Thanks,
Wee Willie

You should get the drivers right from the nVidia site. From the sounds of it
the Control Panel is not fully functional. Have you tried under the Advanced
settings?

FWIW...the driver you mentioned was
released in November 2006. See the
following article:

NVIDIA_video_97.34_logo_Desktop.zip - 7.15.10.9734
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/136527

According to the following article your
system includes the NVIDIA GeForce
6150 LE graphics adapter.

Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario SR2002X PC Desktop
http://www.epinions.com/Hewlett_Packard_Compaq_Presario_SR2002X_Desktop_PC/display_~full_specs

Might be worth a try to download a
more current driver for your Video
Adapter from the nVidia site:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Looks like this one may be a good choice:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_169.25_whql.html

Also...have a look at the Driver Installation Hints:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_installation_hints.html

Good luck.....

Thanks. This is probably the problem:
Do not run virus protection software in the background while
installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring
itself properly.

Running an outdated driver is not helping either.

Yes, you are quite right. I tried re-installing the old driver with
virus software disabled first because I have a slow dial-up connection
with limited connect sessions. But the old driver still didn't work,
so I had to try the newer version. Once I got it downloaded and
installed, it solved the problem. The nVidia control panel has full
functionality now. :)

Thanks again.
