No buttons at upper right

For some reason, I don't have the little action buttons at the upper right
(minimize, maximize, exit) at the upper right of Exceo 97 any more. I do
have them on every other program, as normal, and the minimize and close
buttons for the worksheet, but not for the program itself. Any ideas why
not?

Initial thought was Try View / Fullscreen, but I would still expect you to be
able to see the min/max buttons even with that on. Do you see the toolbars as
normal?

Are using using Groupwise, which grays out the action buttons in question?

If that's the problem. See this MSKB article

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;260199

Article is specific for 2000 but I think it is valid for other versions.

It gives a workaround (use the file menu) and instructions as to how to remove
the Groupwise add-in that is responsible for this behavior.

Yes . . . although I do recall my wife's running Excel, and saying the
toolbars weren't there, so I put them back. I think this happened about the
same time.

No to Groupwise.

Any chance that they're just off the screen.

Right click on the excel icon on the windows taskbar and look at the options.

If Restore is available, then this might be it.

Select Move and and use the cursor keys to move excel's window down. Hit enter
when you're happy with the positioning.
