No boot from the new sata drive

New install on a WD250gb sata hd. it was a pain but I got windows to install
on the drive but I can only boot the system if the win xp disc is in the cd.
After booting from the cd I can take the cd out and go on with no problems
but the system wont boot from the C: drive because it (what is it) does not
see the drive. I have installed all drivers and verified while in windows
that they are installed and working. Now the motherboard is without sata
support so I used a sata raid 2 port pci host card. It came with drivers
which are installed ( about ten times) and again everything funtions great
once I am in windows so the card seems to be working. I am kind of miffed. Oh
ya, one more clue. I tried to install a second O.S. and received a message
that there was no drive there as well.

I use to have a similar problem, only that I wasn't able to instal the OS
until I made some changes, you need to get into the BIOS and there is an
option to make Sata drives availiable, once you've done so you shouldn't have
any problem.

Hope that solves your problem.

Hi Vinnie,

May just need to adjust the boot order in the BIOS, to boot from the sata
HDD, sounds like it is set to boot from the CD first..?

Hope it can help
Cheers

Try booting into Recovery Console and restore MBR
