no blank page when open word

Hiya, first post here so be gentle. I have a problem that when ever
open word instead of a blank page coming up i get a page with loads o
text on it. The text was something that my hubby copied and pasted of
the internet about brake discs, he saved this doc. i have to select an
cut to get rid and this happens everytime. Has anyone got any solution
cos this is really starting to get on my nerves. thanks in advance
