Hi, I have this pc from a friend that u can here starting up but nothing
shows on the monitor.
The monitor works fine cause I hooked it up to my tower to check it. When I
took of the graphics card from my puter and
put it on my friends pcs motherboard that also didn't work(there didn't go
any signal to the monitor(no signal input)). I switched the memory sticks
with mine but to no avail either. I didn't here any beeps at startup though.
Could it be a motherboard malfunction?

If you use the other motherboard with your own (minimal) parts,
including your power supply, and it doesn't work, then likely it's
the motherboard.

Use as few parts as necessary in order to test. You don't need a
hard disk drive or a sound card for example.

Good luck.

I have seen similar problems that ended up being a problem with the PSU.
I built two brand new identical systems..same MOBO, same RAM, same CPU,
etc....
The first system was a screamer....ran GREAT - no problems at all !NONE!
The second system had every problem you can imagine, and from the very
beginning of the build.
I got errors trying to install the OS..bought new RAM (after testting the
original bought RAM and finding it good). Got the OS installed and just
kept running into problems...
To make a long story short, I replaced the brand 400 watt PSU with an older
used 400 watt PSU and PRESTO! - no more problems..

Might check your power, just to save a lot of potential headaches..

Check to make sure you're using the 115 setting, and have it plugged into a
115 socket (110, 115 same same). If that doesn't work, then try a different
PSU..

Power problems can be a real pain.

Let me know what happens,
