Hi gang,

Can anyone help to install/ find back up in XP ?

I know it should be here :
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools,
and then click Backup

But it isn't on my list !

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Hi Jim

If you are using XP Home, the backup utility isn't installed by default.
Depending on what kind of XP CD you have, the backup utility may be found in
the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder on the XP Home CD.

Presumably you have XP Home. Backup is installed automatically on
XP Professional, but not on XP Home. If you have the complete XP
Home CD, find backup on the CD, in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and
install it yourself by doubleclicking the file ntbackup.msi.

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at

That is not supported in Home.

Also before you go too far, NTBACKUP is really a tape based system, for
people bringing forward tapes from Windows NT. It will not backup to CD
or DVD without installing a 'packet writing' package (which I regard as
unreliable for holding backups) and even then will not 'span' multiple
disks. Ok for backing up to say a USB hard drive
